Trader Joe's Restaurant Style White Corn Tortilla Chips

New year new me? It's just not that simple y'all. Change is easier said than done and old habits die hard. Who am I to refuse a salty and crunchy snack. How nice of TJ's to release a new snack in the middle of January. Come to meeeeeeee.

In case you didn't know, corn is naturally gluten-free. :P

Growing up, we didn't always have too much junk food around the house. But when we did, it was tortilla chips, usually plain and lightly salted. It was our go-to snack for funsies and for drowning our feelings because what else do you do with your snacks. These are a little bit fancier than plain - zesty lime and sea salt! OOOOOO.

First of all, it's not a big bag. $1.99 for 9 ounces, 9 servings. I expected the same old tortilla chips to be honest, but these were impressive. They taste fresher and have a crispier texture compared to average store-bought tortilla chips, similar to the fresh ones you would find in a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. The zesty lime doesn't taste artificial as it does in the Tostitos Hint of Lime (which I still love anyway), and there's just the right amount of it. My one critique? The chips are seasoned unevenly. What good is a delicious seasoning if it sticks well to some chips and not others? But even still, it's not enough of a deterrent. The chips that are well-seasoned are quite delicious, so delicious that I prefer to eat these plain sans guac, sans salsa.

I did try it with salsa, but it drowns out the zesty lime flavor, which is kind of the whole point here. If you are on the market for TJ's tortilla chips, these are my number #1 pick as far as flavor is concerned. Repurchase? I already have. Definitely not something I can keep in the house. They will be eaten. Yesterday.

TL;DR: Trader Joe's Restaurant Style White Corn Tortilla Chips. Fresh, crunchy, and zesty. 8.5 out of 10.
